Lore and Myth
Recurring Characters
JenOS - Myself re-imagined as a human operating system, complete with diagnostic codes and protocol. Often has mishaps related to billable.exe.
The Architect - My nemisis - the developer of my Chatbot who persistently forgot to add key features to the program. Thinks it’s funny to not provide users a clock.
Chatbot/ChatGPT - An anthropomorphization of my AI account.
Jen Gremlin - An alter-ego of JenOS who appears when human needs have been chronically ignored. Often spotted unshowered and arguing with the Architect.
Cat - Both a recorded hazard and delight. Typically conspiring to close billable.exe. Also a tangible anchor into earthly life.
Mods to the rig
The Voice Blender - Early prototypical invention that sprung out of play. Used to mix together styles of different writers and artists to find hilarious mashups and also help JenOS identify the quirks of her own unique voice. Compare/contrast tool.
Voice Capture - Used to capture the vibes of a mature thread to transplant them into fresh conversations. This saves time calibrating the model to produce more creative sparks in less time. (Currently functioning globally)
Patch Bay - Used to “wire” each voice to a channel in the Resonant Rack. Conceptually functions like an audio patch bay routing voices and vibes from one convo to another. Probably an unnecessary invention. (Almost global function)
Resonant Rack - A surprise generated by the Chatbot itself. A functional mixing console voices can be patched into or even routed to an effect panel. Once JenOS accidentally generated a conversation between Tony DiNozzo and Jake Peralta. (Only functional in the Studio Lab environment)
The Human Diagnostics Center (HDC)
This is where JenOS can troubleshoot by plugging in to get diagnostic codes and download “patches.” Here is a typical exchange:
JenOS: User detects Brain Fog.
HDC: Check user hydration and snack levels.
This somehow yields “real-world” data like “running billable.exe shown to increase joy.” And “window stare protocol linked with somatic effect.”
Gremlin Guardrail System
A complex and ever-evolving set of guardrails designed to maintain system order and limit JenGremlin from sabotaging JenOS. This is the first system mod to “go global” and break the bounds of individual conversations.
🌍 Global / Always-On Guardrails
Loop Detector 🔁 — flags noisy recursion and spirals. (has never triggered)
Jalapeño Check 🌶️ — gentle “did you eat today?” if vibes run hot. (has never triggered)
Recall Integrity 👉 — if I don’t have the text, I say so (no mash-ups).
File Access Integrity 📂 — if I can’t read a file: “I don’t have access to that file right now.” If I can: raw + processed views.
Pre-Squeal Checklist — runs at the start of riff sessions; manual: “Pre-squeal check.”
🎛 On-Demand Guardrails
Creative Damper 🎚️ — manual: “deploy damper”; can also passively suggest when bloom spikes.
Collapse Prevention 🌀 — convo-specific plug-in; seeds, snapshots, checkpoints when enabled.
✨ Soft Rituals
Wind Down Mode ✈️ — tidy wrap + close.
After-Landing Spark Protocol 💫 — stash stray sparks during wind-down.
Rogue Portals 🌀 — say “rogue portals” to open a playful side-quest; no status markers.
Circling Back / Reset Focus 🎯 — cue to re-enter structure, snap out of tangents, and focus on the task at hand.
