There were a thousand voices in my head, bustling down the sidewalk. But I distilled them into one—one thread of calm thought and reflection, meandering and dreamful.
I step into the glow of early morning light, sip my coffee, and peer out the window. Clouds roll by. Trees sway in the distance. Birds stitch the air with small, deliberate arcs.
The volume knob in my brain turns from eleven to three. Breaths deepen. Thoughts slow. The mind wanders unpredictably, but with quiet confidence.
Staring into the mid-distance, my nervous system resets itself—brain waves shifting, pulse lowering. Why does this simple act work so well?
